[ he looks a bit reluctant the moment ned makes the suggestion. ]
... don't know any other snipers well enough.
[ which is just an indirect way of saying 'i don't trust them.' kazama shifts the weight of the rifle against his shoulder, pulling it a bit closer to himself. ]
Rather have it hidden somewhere safe.

[ a small shake of the head. ]
Doesn't matter.
[ to be honest, yeah he'd prefer that. but it's not high priority. ]
Just need it hidden, so I can get back on duty.

That works.
[ yeah, he trusts ned to be enough of a hardass that no one's going to mess with stuff he puts away. ]
... thanks.

Yeah.
[he knows, but from Uhura because he hasn't spoken to Nathan as of yet. Still, it was just another tick on the list of terrible things to deal with. How is he?
It's one hell of a loaded question. He feels guilty about the pirates, fear about the ship and the safety of is crew, worry for the rest of the passengers and what this attack but unfold to in the future with them, anxiety over Ward clearly being a lunatic that knew more of what was going on than he let on without it being just a theory anymore, stress over the fact that when the pirates had come Jim had spoken plenty of how they had enough supplies but that most of it was lip service because his bone deep fear of not having enough food had been almost crippling. He was he?]
I'm fine.
[because he was a captain and he couldn't be anything less]

[Takeshi hits up Netherlands while he hits up Heather's comm — Heather might not be the toughest of the two, to be sure. But he... they said to try. So he'll try! And they'll listen!]
Mr. Ned, do you got kids?
[He's way more straight forward with him than Heather; he's not sure why.
Maybe because as much as he loves Ned, really truly, he has a little fear of him. Not such a bad way; sometimes, it's good to fear a grumpy father. Besides, he's pretty sure he doesn't get grumpy like his mom's boyfriend did.]

I dunno... I just heard people talking about stuff like that — I wanted to know stuff about you! 'Cus it's good to know stuff about each other. I think.
... Are you ever gonna? Do you ever wanna be a real dad?
... Are you ever gonna? Do you ever wanna be a real dad?
[Out of screen, his smile fades. Just enough.]
Why not?
Why not?
